The Los Angeles Academy of Media & Technology (LAAMT) today opened a public training academy at www.losangelesmedia.org/academy.html, offering two entry-level certificates designed for workforce participants, CTE and Job Corps students, career changers, and community crews.
The programs are Green Technology & Eco-Media (120–150 instructional hours) and Eco-Media Storyteller (90–120 instructional hours). Both combine hands-on fundamentals with digital documentation so graduates can show the work, not only describe it.
“The gap employers keep naming is simple,” said Tre “Sykamoe” Williams, President of Eco-Media Production at LAAMT. “Can you do the task, and can you tell the story without inventing the number? These certificates train both.”
Green Technology & Eco-Media
The green-technology pathway is built as workforce training, not a generic awareness course. Students move through the green economy and career map, workplace safety and OSHA concepts, renewable-energy demonstrations, energy efficiency and green buildings, recycling and circular materials, water and conservation, a hands-on lab, an Eco-Media package, career readiness, and a capstone.
Labs are introductory. They do not authorize regulated electrical, construction, or solar installation work. Industry cards such as OSHA-10 or NABCEP remain optional next steps, not claims of this certificate.
Eco-Media Storyteller
The storyteller pathway takes a project from concept through presentation: story development, camera and phone production, crew workflow, editing, social cuts, campaign briefs, and a professional portfolio (treatment, plan, edit, social assets, resume, and reel).
That model matches LAAMT’s stated niche: prepare Eco-Media Storytellers across film, podcasts, photography, social, documentary, and live work — not only traditional filmmakers.
How enrollment works
The classroom is open to preview at no charge. Suggested donations of $25, $45, and $80 support the public academy. The $45 level is intended for one printed credential after quiz and capstone; $80 covers both programs.
The site is hosted by LAAMT Studios. Assignments may be submitted through the academy desk. In-person labs and field hours can be seated in Los Angeles and on the Gulf Coast when a cohort is formed.
Certificate statement
The LAAMT Green Technology & Eco-Media Certificate and the LAAMT Eco-Media Storyteller Certificate recognize completion of LAAMT training. They are not a state license, professional license, college degree, or guarantee of employment. Additional education, employer requirements, licenses, apprenticeships, or industry certifications may be required for specific occupations.
